Prophecy Gov uses WorkOS AuthKit to handle all authentication. You don’t create a username or password — instead, you sign in through your organization’s identity provider or via a one-time email link. This page explains how the sign-in process works, how sessions behave, and what to do if you lose access.

How sign-in works

When you visit prophecygov.com and click Sign In, Prophecy Gov redirects you to the WorkOS AuthKit sign-in screen. Two methods are available depending on how your city’s workspace is configured:
  • SSO (single sign-on) — If your city is connected to an identity provider such as Microsoft Entra ID or Google Workspace, you’ll be redirected there and signed in using your existing organizational credentials. You won’t need to do anything else — the authentication happens through your IT department’s system.
  • Email magic link — If your city hasn’t configured SSO, enter your work email address and AuthKit sends a one-time sign-in link to your inbox. Click the link to complete authentication and land on the Chat page.
Always sign in with the email address your city admin used to invite you. Using a different address won’t grant you access to your city’s workspace.

Accepting an invitation

Before you can sign in for the first time, your city admin must invite you. The invitation arrives as an email with a link to accept it.
1

Click the invitation link

Open the email from Prophecy Gov and click Accept Invitation. The link opens a page that validates your invitation token.
2

Create your account if prompted

If you don’t yet have a Prophecy Gov account for that email address, you’ll see a Create Your Account screen. Click Sign Up to go through the WorkOS sign-in flow and create your account. Use the same email address the invitation was sent to.If you already have an account, the invitation will be accepted immediately and you can sign in normally.
3

Once your invitation is accepted, go to prophecygov.com and sign in. You’ll have access to your city’s workspace.
Invitation links expire after 48 hours. If you try to accept an expired invitation, you’ll see an error. Contact your city admin to have the invitation resent.

Sessions and staying signed in

After you sign in, Prophecy Gov keeps you authenticated across browser sessions. You don’t need to sign in again each time you open the app, as long as your session remains active. If your session expires — for example after an extended period of inactivity — you’ll be redirected back to the sign-in page automatically. Sign in again using the same method you used originally.

Signing out

To sign out, click your name or profile icon at the bottom of the sidebar and select Sign Out. This ends your session on the current device and clears your authentication state.
If your city uses SSO, signing out of Prophecy Gov does not sign you out of your organization’s identity provider. You may still be signed in to other apps connected to the same provider.

If you lose access

If you can’t sign in or lose access to your city’s workspace, contact your city admin. Common reasons for lost access include:
  • Your invitation expired before you accepted it
  • Your account was deactivated
  • You’re trying to sign in with a different email address than the one that was invited
Your city admin can resend an invitation or reactivate your account. Prophecy Gov does not have a self-service account recovery flow — access is managed entirely through your city’s admin.
If you’re not sure who your city admin is, reach out to Prophecy Gov support by clicking Support in the sidebar or emailing hello@prophecygov.com.
